Good Trip Yesterday

I was finally able to do a fishing trip yesterday after missing a few weekends. It’s been sometime since my last trip, and I wanted to dust off the cobwebs. I was at the dock early but it seemed that the guys didn’t get the message that I wanted to leave at first light. So we ended up leaving about an hour and half late.

we had a plain to look for Mahi and tuna on this trip. First few spots didn’t have any fish interested but we found a spot that had some good size Mahi on it. The best Bull Mahi came on a wingman Stickbait. It ended up measuring 58″ TL caught by my buddy.

I lost a big cow almost the same size on the same lure. I was able to redeem myself when I hooked and landed a 48″ Bull Mahi on a slow pitch jigging rod and a 40g jig. It took a little more time to do this since I was fishing light line.

After 7 Mahi we want to try to get a few tuna in the boat. So we took off looking for birds working the area. Which we found after about an hour. We found the tuna feeding on the surface. We were able to get 4 and 3 skipjacks on Texas Toothpick lure.

Not the best trip but we did pretty good for the day, and hooked a newbie to saltwater.
